Vocational Training in Germany: DHPS launches cooperation project

Whether in the nursing, therapeutic or medical-technical fields - the training offered by the Diakonissen-Stiftungs-Krankenhaus Speyer hospital is extremely diverse and thus very attractive for school leavers. This arose high interest among the learners from Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek (DHPS) in this visit and the information sessions on nursing training in Germany, specifically in Speyer, on 21 July 2022.

Jonas Sewing, Managing Director of the Diakonissen-Stiftungs-Krankenhaus Speyer, and Tanja Schaller, Principal of the Diakonissen Pflegeschule Speyer, visited the school to present the nursing training and development opportunities at the Diakonissen-Stiftungs-Krankenhaus Speyer to the learners, as well as to arrange a cooperation with the DHPS Windhoek. One of the DHPS learners seized the opportunity and signed a training contract. “We were very impressed by the school’s diversity, the commitment of the teachers and the receptiveness of the learners to professional training in Germany. We are already looking forward to welcoming the new trainee to our school in Speyer”, says Jonas Sewing.

DHPS attaches great importance to study and career guidance and it is almost unique in Namibia in this respect: From Grade 10 onwards, regular individual counselling sessions are held with the learners, during which the study and training opportunities in Germany and worldwide, but also personal interests and talents are explored together with the counselling teachers.

We are pleased about the successful cooperation with Diakonissen-Stiftungs-Krankenhaus Speyer and wish all future Namibian trainees every success.
