Learners Representative Council (LRC)

Learners Representative Council (LRC)

WE are YOUR Voice!

Fun, good teamwork and professionalism: A lot can be learned at the Learners Representative Council, but above all it is great pleasure to participate in organizing various events.

The LRC’s main objective is to represent learners and to take their requests into consideration in our activities and to implement them in our projects.

These projects are very versatile: e.g. we initiated the drinking fountain at the primary section school grounds.

In general, we are open for questions and new ideas and cooperate with school management, administration, teachers and of course with you, all the learners.

  • Nathan (Head Boy 2024/25):
"It is a great honour to represent our school and all students as Head Boy. I vow to be committed to building a joyful and inclusive school atmosphere, where the feelings, opinions and ideas of the students matter most."

As liaison teachers, we are here for all learners of DHPS. You can contact us in case of any problems and we will try to provide as much support as possible or mediate in conflicts. We also take part in all meetings of your learners representatives council (LRC) and plan events (movie night, pizza day, etc.) and projects (cancer apple day, Have a nice Day-Boxes) with them. Together we try to make DHPS a place where everybody feels welcome.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us or any member of the LRC. You usually find us in the teachers' room during breaks or you can contact us by email (h.kayone@dhps-windhoek.com & l.neuhaus@dhps-windhoek.com)

Parent Representative Council

Actively contributing in school

Welcome to the DHPS Parents Representative Council (PRC)

Creativity and dedication, along with a little spare time and the pleasure to commit oneself for others, often are the first steps to participation in the PRC.

We support parents in all situations, are the link between them and the school and act as “messenger” in all matters of concern.

Over and over again we are enthused about the great involvement parents are granted - certainly this is exercised at the DHPS far more actively than in many other schools.

Who are we?

As parents of DHPS learners it is important to us to encourage the school in its dedicated, multi-cultural, diverse and dynamic character.

In addition to the task as a liaison between parents and learners on the one hand and the school management and school board on the other, we are involved in many other areas of school life - naturally always to the benefit of our and your children.

Our current PRC members & responsibilities:

  • Chairman: Burghardt Grimm
  • Vice Chairman: Bastian Hüster
  • Secretary: Eileen Tjirimuje
  • Steering Committee: Jürgen Rannersmann
  • Christian Trede
  • Carsten Lüttwitz
  • Ekonia Mudjanima

News and updates:

Apart from our regular parents representative meetings (4x annually) we organize and celebrate together with the entire school community - be it at the bazaar, the Big Walk or the primary section or at hostel- and family festivals.

Interested in getting involved in the PRC and become a parents’ representative? Then contact one of the PRC executive members - we will provide all the required information with pleasure!

DHPS - Learner Sponsorships

Path the way for a successful future for our learners

Due to its diverse cultural- and linguistic scene and the great social contrasts, Namibia’s educational sector sets an exceptional example: Limited financial resources impede the promotion of talented, motivated learners from less affluent families.

The DHPS endeavors to facilitate optimal education to all, regardless of linguistic, cultural, religious or social background.

We accommodate various learners from low-income families.
The DHPS-funding model provides a unique way for these learners to perceive excellent educational opportunities.

Be a Patron!

Become a patron and support our learners:
Active patrons are informed on the academic progress of their beneficiaries and are invited to share in their (school) life.
Likewise, once-off support or emergency donations secure a significant part of a learner’s financial burden.

Do you wish to support a learner by being a patron or by a one-time donation to our assistance fund?
We appreciate your support and the consequential opportunity for our learners.

What our patrons say...

"As a former DHPS learner, who spent 13 years at this German school in Windhoek and graduated in 1965, it is of special importance for me to support a learner and enable her to visit this school. My husband and I wish our godchild all the best and a lot of joy at school."
(Ruth Peinsipp, DHPS learner patron)

To enable a girl to access good education is a small but important contribution to promoting women in Namibia as they still bear a great burden in this country."
(DHPS learner patron)
