First Day of School: Welcome, DHPS Grade 1!

On 21 January 2026, Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek (DHPS) proudly welcomed their
youngest “guests of honour”: 87 excited first grades, arriving with their
school cones, butterflies in their stomachs and a great deal of curiosity for
their very first day of school.
The enrolment ceremony focused on one key message: school is not about
knowing everything from the start, but about growing step by step. DHPS
principal Jörg Przybilla also emphasised this: “We take care of you – we are
here for you.“ At DHPS, learning is
a place where children can enjoy discovering new things, feel comfortable and
develop their talents.
As part of the welcoming
ceremony, grade 4 learners delighted the audience with a performance, sharing
what they love most about their school: lessons, friends, the playgrounds and,
of course, the breaks.
Pastor Schütte, in his dual role as both a parent of a first-grader and
pastor, added a personal touch with a short devotional speech.
Deputy Minister of Education
Dino Ballotti impressed the audience as he proudly showcased his German skills
and praised DHPS as “one of the best schools in Namibia – even in Africa.”
Once again, the enrolment ceremony demonstrated that DHPS is more than
just a school: it is a community that welcomes children with open arms and
guides them on their own unique learning journeys. The new first-graders can now embark on their
school adventure with excitement, eagerness and confidence.
A warm welcome to you all – we
are happy to have you here. Now our school is complete again!
