Digitalisation at DHPS

Digitalisation at the Deutsche Höhere Privatschule (DHPS) in Windhoek is advancing rapidly.
A few weeks ago, the school proudly received its first digital whiteboards. These impressive 86-inch screens are each fitted with two whiteboard side panels, allowing for both digital work and traditional blackboard-style teaching.
This technology therefore combines the advantages of both methods and enhances teaching in a lasting way.
The digital features of these new whiteboards go far beyond what one would expect from a conventional smartboard, which were in use at the DHPS for 15 years already.
Highly responsive and precise, the boards are ideal as writing surfaces, even for demanding applications such as science. They also offer numerous interfaces, including wireless options, to connect to other devices. For example, iPads can connect wirelessly to the boards within seconds and then be used as writing tools.
The boards offer great added value, especially for the learners.
Learners can also connect their personal devices wirelessly to the boards and deliver presentations directly from their seats. The boards can be a major benefit for children with visual impairments, as the screen can also be mirrored the other way round. In this way, the boards contribute to the inclusion of all learners at the DHPS.
DHPS aims to equip all classrooms with these modern digital boards in the medium term. A specific short-term goal is to outfit the entire senior section with digital screens by the next school year. These plans reflect the school’s commitment to providing its learners with a modern and future-oriented learning environment.
