DHPS Soccer Triumphs at the Gravity Cup 2026

It was a thrilling and exciting independence weekend as the 2026 Gravity Cup kicked off at Wanderes in Windhoek on Thursday, 19 March, for a 3-day tournament which ended on Independence Day, Saturday, 21 March, in the afternoon.

The DHPS U13 and U15 boys’ soccer teams led by coaches Bernardus Hipangua, Peter Uushona and assisted by Rorrick Sissing participated in a fiercely 6-a-side soccer tournament at Affies Park. It was a massive success for our U15 boys as they were crowned Champions and brought home Gold and the U15 Soccer Gravity Cup.

Although, it was a competitive tournament for the u13s, who played a total of 7 matches against 7 different schools from Okahandja, Swakopmund and Windhoek, they managed to push each opponent to the limit and get 1 win in the process. The parents came in full support for the young boys, who were motivated, showed unbelievable spirit and left it all on the pitch.
Stand out performances from Kelvin Dishena, Aiko Foerster, Malte Schulz, Leon Horsthemke, Caleb Meyer, Oliver Rohlf, Max Müller, Joshua Cowley, David Schlabitz and Dobbio Krumnow.

The highlight of the tournament was no doubt the u15 boys who came out as the u15 Gravity Cup Soccer Champions as they represented the school with full motivation, dedication, and togetherness from training sessions to the final game. They played 3 other schools, namely St Paul’s, Windhoek International School and Otjiwarongo Secondary School whom we met in the finals and beat in a nail-biting, hard fought victory on penalties.
Our own, York Ahrens was electric, earning the U15s Soccer MVP award as he fired us into the finals and scored the winning penalty with confidence and ice-cold composure. Other stand out performers include Phillip Kernstock and Goalkeeper Andre Schaeffler, who held the backline with rock-solid displays throughout the tournament. All the boys showed brilliance in their performances and delivered when it mattered. Well-deserved and a special thanks to Ramiro Sissing, Indila Shipena, Luke Peake, Tim von Dewitz, John Dixie Kariko, Elijah Mudjanima and Shapama Tuneeko.

DHPS is proud to be called soccer Champions once again with the unmistakeable DHPS spirit, the boys fully deserve all their success. On to the next challenge – Champions never stop!
