DHPS learner competing at the IPSC Championships 2021

André Viljoen, a grade 9 learner at DHPS, is the first "Super Junior" in the 16 and under category to be selected for the Namibian Team of the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC). André will put his skills to the test during the 10th African Pistol Championships hosted by IPSC 2021 in Stilfontein/South Africa from 22 to 24 October 2021 . The Namibian Practical Shooting Association is sending two teams and two individual marksmen to represent Namibia at this prestigious event, with about 400 competitors and referees from Germany, Greece, Kenya, Malaysia, Norway, South Africa, the USA and Zimbabwe.

The IPSC handgun matches require a lot of movement and shooting from strenuous positions at targets ranging from 3m to 50m away. Shooting is against the clock and under very strict safety precautions, with the most accurate and fastest shooter in each division declared the winner. The competition covers 24 stages, requiring more than 430 rounds of ammunition.

We wish André the best of luck for the championships!
