DHPS Kinder-Campus: Exercise Wakes You Up!

Since the start of the school year, the DHPS Kinder-Campus has been offering something special for all five- to six-year-olds who are full of energy after lunch: twice a week, they can take part in lively and fun sports sessions instead of napping.

The idea? To inspire a love of movement and support holistic development through a variety of playful activities.

These sessions not only get little bodies moving, but also playfully prepare the children for school – making this a perfect example of the growing cooperation between the Kinder-Campus and the Primary School.

Christian Oeser, sports teacher at DHPS, lends his expert support to the project and shares methods, ideas and his specialist knowledge of sports education with the Kinder-Campus team. This not only targets motor development in a focused way, but also supports the transition to school through playful activities.

"Through perception exercises, we help children to work with numbers, letters, shapes and colours, among other things. A wide range of material and physical experiences, as well as social interaction, are also key elements," says Christian Oeser.

Every Monday and Friday, the gym comes alive with laughter as the children run, jump, balance, roll, climb and throw. It can also get loud and wild, especially during the popular game ‘King Kong is coming’.

And sometimes it is very calm and focused: each session ends with a relaxation exercise or a short story that matches the day’s theme.
