Cultural Kaleidoscope: A school-wide project celebrating diversity

At the DHPS, we believe that our diversity is one of our greatest strengths.

This year, our school community came together to celebrate the many cultures that make up our vibrant student body through a special cultural project. Each grade explored a unique aspect of culture - from music and dance to festivals, traditions, dress and further - showcasing the beautiful variety of customs and histories represented within our school.

The project has been in the making since 2024 and was officially launched with the staff in June 2025, as a meaningful way to commemorate the Soweto Uprisings of 1976, now honoured annually on 16 June as the Day of the African Child. Over the following months, learners and teachers collaborated creatively to design their contributions. Every class submitted a digital page of their choice, which has been brought together to create this electronic magazine, a colourful tapestry of our collective efforts.

While this is only a single project, our hope is that it sparks a deeper appreciation for the many voices, backgrounds and stories within our school.

As you turn the pages, we invite you to celebrate with us the unity that can be found in diversity. Or, as we say here in Namibia: “Omutima gwanhu aveshe oghahi kala hina eenghono mumwe.” (A heart of many becomes stronger together.)

Please feel free to share this magazine with friends and family so that our celebration of culture and community can reach far beyond the walls of our school.
