Sustainability 2.0: Green initiative launched at DHPS

Following the initiative of Lisa Müller, a graduate of the German Private Secondary School Windhoek (DHPS), the first meetings between representatives of the association SeGeNa e.v. (Social-ecological association for the promotion of the German-Namibian cooperation) and DHPS took place in February and March 2022.

It was agreed to advance the sustainability aspects in line with the school's new mission statement. SeGeNa e.V. supports various projects of German-Namibian cooperation and aims, among other things, to provide technical and advisory support to schools in different regions of Namibia in setting up aquaponic gardens, local food production, waste management and the sustainable use of resources. The overall goal is to equip young people with knowledge about the regional production of healthy food.

DHPS could become a central place for this. At initial meetings, representatives of the DHPS working group "Green Science DHPS - Sustainable", the school canteen and boarding school, as well as various subject groups have already exchanged first ideas, also with regard to possible locations.
Further planning will take place from April onwards. If you are interested in participating in or supporting the project, please contact Carsten Osthus, DHPS Vice Principal at: c.osthus@dhps-windhoek.com
