DHPS Internal Reading Competition 2021

"Reading is an unlimited adventure of childhood"
(Astrid Lindgren)

After the DHPS internal reading competition for grades 3 - 6 had to be cancelled last year due to prevailing COVID regulations, we were especially grateful that we were able to offer this event this year.

On Thursday 30 September 2021, the selected readers from Grades 3 and 4 (Group A) and Grades 5 and 6 (Group B) read an unprepared text to the judges in the auditorium. Jury members were Mr Dennis Schroeder (Head of the Goethe Institute), Ms Erika von Wietersheim (author) and Ms Sylvia Schlettwein (teacher and author).
The learners read exciting adventure stories.

Kim Heydenrych was the winner in group A, while Dante Marcus won in group B. The two winners will represent DHPS at the "Horst-Kreft-Lesefest” at Delta School Windhoek. Congratulations to our learners – we will keep our fingers crossed for the reading competition on 23 October.

We are proud of you and hope that all readers will continue to enjoy reading and embark on great adventures in fantasy worlds. We are already looking forward to next year's reading competition.
