DHPS-Cultural Day & Happy Independence Day

Before learners and teachers of the Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek (DHPS) left for the March holidays, they celebrated together:
On Thursday, 15/3, the focus at the DHPS was on early Namibian Independence Day festivities and the traditionally celebrated “Cultural Day”.

Many learners took the opportunity to represent their cultures by German dirndls and lederhosen, traditional dresses and colourful shirts instead of their school clothes.

This was the perfect match for the colourful programme on the school grounds:
Grades 3-6 enjoyed the performances by the DHPS Interact Club, while grades 7-12 gathered in the auditorium to listen to guest speaker Panduleni Nghipandulwa's motivational speech on how adolescents can be supported in their pursuit of higher educational goals.
"Pandu's” lecture, as well as the theatre play by the DHPS Interact Club, which was a pleasant staging of the different Namibian cultures, received frenetic applause, many laughs and created a great spirit among the learners.

Again there was also a wide culinary offer - it ranged from tortillas and Ovambo chicken to vetkoek and pretzels, croissants and Herero bread.

The DHPS thanks the Interact Club for organising this dynamic and colourful Cultural Day and wishes all learners and the entire school community a happy Independence Day!
