School Olympiad 2018: Second part of the ball games and final spurt of the competition

Also on the fourth and last competition day of the 17th Sports Olympiad of German Schools in Southern Africa, the ball games offered pure excitement. Many new friendships and the competitive spirit were in the foreground again.
Here are the final results of the ball games:

Basketball

In addition to DHPS, Windhoek, the basketball favourites included the teams of the German school of Cape Town (DSK) and Johannesburg (DSJ). This trend was also reflected in the final results:
The DSK boys won a total of four games, just beating the DHPS on second place and placing DSJ on place 3.
The DHPS basketball girls came second, just behind the Cape Townian winners and ahead of DSP on third place.

Volleyball

The volleyball results are very similar:
However, the Pretoria boys won most of the games, followed by their Cape-Townian opponents. The DHPS boys were able to secure the third place.
In the girls’ teams, DSK took first place, while the DHPS came second ahead of the Johannesburg volleyball ladies.

Soccer

The great spirit on the side-line continued until the very last shot. Many learners gathered to cheer on their team.
Unfortunately the DHPS soccer ladies narrowly missed the top of the podium and took second place behind the team from Pretoria. DSK Cape Town finished third.
On the last competition day, the DHPS boys gained victory, while DSP Pretoria achieved silver and DSK Cape Town took bronze.

Handball

Unfortunately DHPS could not secure a place on the podium. In handball, Pretoria emerged as clear winners, followed by the German School of Cape Town and Johannesburg in third place.
On the last Olympic day on September 20th, the DHPS handball girls had to fight to the end, but unfortunately also missed the podium.
The overall results will be announced on the closing ceremony of the 17th Sports Olympiad of German Schools in Southern Africa, which will be held in the DHPS auditorium.
