Microscopy and mountain biking, Chinese and baking extra-murals, hot air balloon experiments, maths Olympics, theatre and musical rehearsals, mediator presentations and guided tours through the brand new gym hall, as well as plenty of information on the school, the pre-school section, the afternoon care and support programmes: all this was scheduled for 3 March 2018 during our Open Day. Various lesson projects in the classrooms, interactions on the sports grounds and different extra-mural activities invited to marvel, participate and linger.
The highlight was of course the on-site inspection of the new sports gym, which is currently undergoing extensive renovations, which are nearly completed. For the learners it was also a first glance behind the scenes of the construction site - and there was great enthusiasm and anticipation for Namibia's most state-of-the-art sports facilities.

After this, the day at DHPS was not over for many of the visitors yet:
The DHPS summer celebrations afterwards were a great success with numerous stalls and a great atmosphere, enjoyed by our older and younger guests alike. The sports premises turned into festive grounds: 20 stalls invited children to play, experiment and craft. In addition to a jumping castle, gourmet stall, touch & feel box, motor cycle racing, face painting and giant bubbles, there was a great variety of games and crafting. Of course cakes, steak rolls and curley fries were offered. The highlight of the day was the relaxed get-together in the huge tent, while big and small played outside and had lots of fun.
The DHPS summer celebrations are held bi-annually, cooperatively by the kindergarten, pre-school, boarding school and the Child and Youth Centre. The aim is to promote a sense of community between the parents and educators and invite friends and interested parties to have a look around. The organisers were particularly pleased about numerous guests this year, the joyful atmosphere and the great community spirit. Thank you to all the helpers for their commitment on this eventful day.
