Life tells the best stories - and the stories author Hanna Schott told her young audience of grades 1-4 learners at the Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek (DHPS) on 31 July 2018, were indeed as colourful and varied as life itself.

Schott only tells and writes true stories. The story she told first and second graders about the Ethiopian girl Kidist, who ended up in Germany without her family and no knowledge of German, is based on a true event.
"When you look at Germany through the eyes of a child, everything looks different - and many normal things suddenly turn out to be amazing and very funny," says Schott. Haiko Herbert, a DHPS 1st grade learner, shares this opinion and laughs at Schott's everyday example: "When you turn it on, the water runs out - exactly, that's what we call a tap!”

Also grades three and four listened to a touching story with a true background. Fritzi grew up in the former GDR and - in a very charming way - expresses her awareness about her parents’ quarrels after watching TV and many schoolmates moving away.
Grade 3 and 4 teachers have familiarised their learners with the topic in advance who were fascinated by Schott's stories and asked interesting questions.

The DHPS - and in particular the primary school learners - were grateful for the opportunity to welcome Hanna Schott to the school on her reading tour through Namibia.
