DHPS Bazaar 2019 – Tradition & Innovation with Live Music and Festive Mood

„Tradition und Innovation – Local roots, global minds“ was this year’s slogan for the annual bazaar of Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek (DHPS), which took place on Friday, 16 August 2019 to celebrate the schools’ 110 years anniversary.

Besides many traditional food stalls, like the well-known and tastefully decorated coffee garden with its wide variety of homemade cakes, visitors could also taste other culinary specialties like Tacos, Popcorn and the famous German potato fritters, “Kartoffelpuffer”. Stalls offering games for fun and special skills, like Sling Shooting, Bubble-Soccer, Bull riding, Dart Throwing, Tombola and Bowling, were thoroughly enjoyed by young and old alike.

To celebrate the jubilee a special entertainment programme was designed to be enjoyed by the entire school community. Parents, learners, Alumni and members of staff enjoyed the live performances of Ele-motho, Lize Ehlers and the Phoniker Orchestra and danced the night away. The African Marketing Bubbly Bar offered a variety of sparkling wines to taste and the Hotel Thule Alumni Winebar hosted countless celebrating guests until late.

The DHPS´s 110 years’ anniversary bazaar 2019 was a great success, only made possible by incredible teamwork. Meticulous preparations and the exceptional engagement of all parties involved resulted in the smooth running of the bazar. The exceptional teamwork amongst parents, members of staff and alumni is not taken for granted and demonstrates the special character of the school.
