NARREC Biology Excursion

5C went on an outing to NARREC (Namibia Animal Rescue Rehabilitation
Research and Education Centre), on Monday, 6 August 2018.
We
received a lot of information about the birds and had the chance to see
many different kinds of birds, which included eagles, parrots, vultures,
hawks, and owls. I found it very interesting to see the birds up close.
Most of the birds at the centre were rescued and came to the centre
to be cared for. Most of the birds at NARREC are predators. Many types
of birds are endangered because they are poisoned and killed by people.
The illegal trade of parrots was also very interesting to hear about.
We also learnt about tortoises. They know where to find water.
Thank you to the teachers for arranging the outing.
Ausflug nach NARREC

Als
die 5C bei NARREC angekommen ist, haben alle erstmal ihre Taschen
abgelegt und haben einen Spaziergang gemacht. Zuerst haben sie sich
einen Kudubaum angeschaut und gelernt, wie sich wie sich ‘harte’und
‘weiche’ Steine anhören.
Danach haben sie einige Gräserarten
gepflückt und die NARREC – Mitarbeiter hat alle Arten erklärt. Später
dann sind alle zu den Vogelkäfigen gegangen und haben in Gruppen von je 3
Schülern gearbeitet und jede Gruppe hat eine Präsentation über eine
Vogelart gehalten.
Es war ein toller und lehrreicher Ausflug für die Klasse 5C der DHPS.
