Adventurers and Explorers- Holiday Programme at the Child & Youth Centre

Explorations do not always pose dangers, but most certainly adventures:

For about 50 participants of the holiday programme offered at the DHPS Child & Youth Centre, these holidays entailed some very exciting adventures. They had the opportunity to visit the President's public reception areas, the Cabinet and smaller meeting rooms at the Namibian State House. Things, they know from newspapers or history books, suddenly became reality. The children asked interesting questions about the paintings, the technology and the equipment of the building and found out about the differences between the national and presidential flags.

A real highlight was taking a glimpse at the presidential chair and having a seat in the big round of the Cabinet. Who knows - maybe there was a future Cabinet member sitting on one of the chairs on 19 March 2018? In any case, this will hopefully be a motivation for choosing a future career that involves taking responsibility for Namibia.

On the next day, the adventure continued with fun and games during a great cultural journey.

In the meanwhile, the focus of the other groups was all on Namibia: The perfect explorer spirit arose while peeling, chopping, and stirring for their self-made potjie. Stirring in the huge hot pots was quite exhausting. Also proper seasoning proved an art in itself. At 12h30 eventually all adventurers enjoyed the great chicken potjie.

During the Independence celebrations, the Child & Youth Centre brought the Namibian history to life.
