100 Participants attend DHPS & BAS basketball camp

The DHPS Windhoek and the Basketball Artists School (BAS) hosted their 3rd collaborative DHPS/BAS Basketball Camp from 30th May until 1 June 2019.

The 3-day camp with 100 players aged 7 to 18 years and coaches was held at DHPS. Basic skills of dribbling, passing, shooting and ball handling were taught. Different contests and games were played and through these, winners for the 5 five trophies that participants competed for, were determined.

The winners were Zuleika Hiwilepo (Most Improved Female), Elias Lagvardi (Most Improved Male), Zunaid Benjamin (Best Shooter), Rayhan Poonja (Most Valuable Player, MVP, Male) and Ashley Linda (Most Valuable Player, MVP, Female).

The success of the camp was made possible with assistance of the DHPS Principal MS. Kristin Eichholz, Mr. Melusi Linda (DHPS Sports Coach) Mr. Ramah Mumba (BAS Director), Mr. Malakia Matias (BAS Coordinator) and it was supported by OTB Sports.

When asked about the camp, this is what 12-year-old participant Nathan Mungunda said: “I enjoyed the camp so much and I learnt hoe to play like Lebron James. I can’t wait for next year’s camp”.
