Senior Secondary II of DHPS |
DHPS offers two different school leaving certificates after Grade 12:
1. The “Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate” (NSSC) or
2. The German International Abitur „Deutsche Internationale Abiturprüfung“ (DIAP)
At the end of Grade 9 pupils decide between those two options.
NSSC:
- English as medium of instruction from Grade 10
- 6 subjects on “Higher Level” are compulsory: German, English, French or Afrikaans and Mathematics as well as two subjects from the following: Physical Science, Biology, Accounting, Business Studies, Geography and Art&Design, (also on Higher Level). Furthermore all students attend art, music and sport classes.
DIAP:
- English as medium of instruction in the subjects Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. In all other subjects German is the medium of instruction.
- 10 subjects are compulsory: German, English, French or Afrikaans, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology,History, Social studies or Geography, Art or Music and Sport. Two of the three natural science subjects (Physics, Chemistry or Biology) are compulsory.
The “Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate” (NSSC) is a recognized university entrance certificate in Namibia and the SADC region. The „Deutsche Internationale Abiturprüfung“ (DIAP) is a worldwide recognized university entrance certificate.
