A DHPS sponsorship - General legal status

What is a sponsorship?
A sponsorship for learners of our school is a personaland uncomplicated means of support. The child you aresponsoring will write to you at least three times ayear, or more frequently should you wish so. Moreover,you will get feedback from the Head of the EnglishMedium Branch about the educational achievements ofthe child you sponsor.Clearly, a sponsorship is a meansof guidance and support on a personal note for a certainlength of time, not an adoption. This means that theparents are and will remain the legal guardians; thesponsors act as partners paving the way for a betterfuture.

The contract’s period
You are under no contractual obligation or commitment once you have started sponsoring a child. You only need to help as long as you can and wish to. If need be, you can terminate your support at any time and without adhering to any deadline. In such a case we will then try to find a new sponsor for the child. We do, however, ask of you to inform us of your intention to terminate your sponsorship. We recommend that you accompany the child you are sponsoring up to the end of his/her scholastic career. Should a child have to leave the school prematurely due to a necessary change of school or should his/her family move elsewhere, we will inform you and at the same time suggest an alternative to you. Should the family of a sponsored child become financially independent, your sponsorship may also come to an end.

Donation receipt for your sponsorship
Your sponsorship contribution may be tax deductible in your country. At the beginning of each new calendar year, you will therefore receive a confirmation of your contribution of the previous year.

Payment options
You may pay in monthly installments or on a half-yearly or yearly basis. Typically, a sponsor has a standing order with us, with monthly payments of between 50 to 100 euro monthly (respectively the corresponding sum in Namibian Dollars). With this you grant first-class education to a child. And not only will you be helping this one child, but by furthering the educational standard of this one school-leaver you may also contribute towards improving the development of an entire country and thus ensuring a better future for many. Now it’s up to you: You can pay your donation (please remember to enter the name of the child you are sponsoring) per standing order into our bank account of the Deutsche Bank, or per direct-debit instruction.
